War - Notes

Ephesians 6:10-20
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.

Paul's WAR

1. A Humble Witness

Pray also for me …

Why did Paul need prayer?

Because Paul was at war ...

  • Under house arrest in Rome
  • Witnessing to guards and visitors
  • Awaiting trial before Caesar
  • Waging war against Satan
Acts 26:14-18
“Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me? It is useless for you to fight against my will.”
“Who are you, lord?” I asked.
And the Lord replied, “I am Jesus, the one you are persecuting. Now get to your feet! For I have appeared to you to appoint you as my servant and witness. Tell people that you have seen me, and tell them what I will show you in the future. And I will rescue you from both your own people and the Gentiles. Yes, I am sending you to the Gentiles to open their eyes, so they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God. Then they will receive forgiveness for their sins and be given a place among God’s people, who are set apart by faith in me.”

When we witness for Christ, when we share the Gospel, we are attacking Satan's territory. We are involved in a Kingdom Power Encounter!

2 Corinthians 4:4
Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.

2. A Clear Witness

Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me …
  • True to the Gospel
  • Appropriate for the Hearer

Here are two Gospel presentations ...

3. A Bold Witness

Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.

Romans 1:16
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.

  1. I need your prayers
  2. I need God’s words
  3. I need more boldness

1. Are YOU clear about the Gospel?

2. Are YOU bold with the Gospel?

3. Are YOU praying and getting prayer to share the Gospel?
